Our gates are open at both our Riverview and Deerton Natural Burial Grounds. When visiting please take home with you any used tissues and rubbish.
Our Compost loo at Deerton remains locked except on day of funeral. If you wish to access our compost loo the combination lock number is 1965,but please replace the lock after use.
Please be aware that at Riverview NBG although the Compost loo remains open, it is only cleaned before a funeral, we make available wet wipes, tissues and hand sanitiser.
Funerals at our Natural Burial Grounds:
Currently there are no restrictions to people attending a funeral at our Natural Burial Grounds, however if you are due to attend a funeral but feel unwell or have been in contact with someone that has shown symptoms please look after your family and friends and protect our colleagues and staff by staying at home, thank you, Sian

Please feel free to make use of the various seating areas around the site at Deerton and take advantage of our local wildlife and tranquility. The site at Riverview is new and we will be developing the site over the coming months. Please walk around and take in the view across the estuary, there is a walking route which many people enjoy across this high point of the Downs.

On the A249 take the Sittingbourne exit , at roundabout take the third exit towards Bobbing /Crematorium, turn left onto Stickfast Lane, at the bottom of the lane turn right onto Iwade Road then left onto Basser Hill, turn left onto Rasberry Hill Lane, follow road along to next left, Vicarage Lane and finally Wardwell Lane.

Deerton Natural Burial Ground postcode ME9 9LL is situated in Kent between Sittingbourne and Faversham, close to the village of Teynham. It can be approached from the A2, either from the coast, Dover/Canterbury or Medway/London direction. At the Norton Ash crossroads, opposite the Texaco garage, take Lower Norton Lane as indicated, then left at Lower Road. After 100 yards turn right. Pass under the railway bridge and continue. Deerton Natural Burial Ground is at the bottom of this lane on the left. There is a sign at the gateway in front of double wooden gates.
Main Car Park Deerton
Our main car park is open only on burial days. We have room for about 30+ cars. An eco friendly liner is under the grass for safety purposes. The Compost loo is located here and can be accessed on a non burial day via the footpath and it is appropriate for wheelchair users.
Car Park Riverview
Our car park at Riverview can accommodate up to 15 cars. There is an overflow car park area but this will be discussed by our team when organising your funeral.

Funerals at our NBGs:
Currently up to 30 people may attend, adhering to the 2 meter social distancing rule where possible, in family units/ bubbles.
We make available disposable gloves, wet wipes, tissues and hand sanitiser. Face masks are advisable.
Our compost loos are deep cleaned prior to and after a funeral.

Yes you can plant wild native bulbs and seeds by a loved one’s grave, however please can you ensure that they are local, native woodland species. But do not leave ornaments or wired flowers, plants in pots or other unnatural items on graves, we will remove them.

Sadly, we do not allow gifts, cellophane wrapped flowers or mementos to be left at the graveside, if you would like to speak to one of the team about this, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

A natural burial ground has no permanent markers so finding a grave can be difficult as the natural environment changes through the seasons. Our staff will be more than happy to help locate your loved one.

Yes we are happy for visitors to smoke but please take any cigarette ends with you, to ensure the site stays unspoiled.

Yes we are happy for visitors to bring children but please make sure an adult is caring for them at all times.
