Deerton
Deerton was started in 2007 as Kent Natural Burials first site. The site seamlessly merges into the local landscape now, looking much like the orchards that surround it. The ground has a protected area where Roman remains have been found in the archaeological excavations. Much of the burial area is now planted with maturing Rowan, Wild Cherry, Whitebeam, Field Maple, Hazel and Gelder Rose. There is a bower of willow that is growing to be shaped into a sheltered area and there are many benches where you can to listen to the birds and think about your loved one. In keeping with our environmentally friendly ethos there is a self-composting toilet.
Throughout the year we hold events to celebrate the memory of those who are buried here. In Spring we invite families to come and work with us to maintain the site, in Summer to have strawberries and cream for families to enjoy the flowering and bustling nature site and in Autumn we celebrate remembrance day with wreath making from the local hedgerows.
The site is open 24/7 for you to visit your loved ones and there is ample parking and good access.
